What we collect

Creating an account asks for the following:

• Account details: first name, last name, nickname, email address and password. A phone number is optional.
• Your real name stays private: it is never shown publicly. Your nickname is the only identity anyone else sees — on performances, in vote lists and in the tables.

Identity documents (contestants only)

A contestant who wants to upload a performance uploads an identity document (national ID or passport) once, when joining the season.

• Every document is held in encrypted, strictly private cloud storage with no public address of any kind, and is opened only by the team responsible for verifying finalists.
• Identity documents are never displayed or shared publicly.
• Members who only watch and vote are never asked for a document at all.

An identity document is never shown publicly and never leaves private storage.

Votes and performances

• Votes and likes: counts are public on the page, while who voted for what stays private and is visible only to the system. Removing a like removes the vote from the total entirely.
• Performances: an uploaded performance is stored and transcoded for playback, and shown to signed-in members as soon as a moderator approves it.

Signing in with Google

You can create an account or sign in using your Google account instead of a password. If you do:

• Google tells us your email address, your name and your profile picture, and confirms that the address is really yours. We never receive your Google password, and we are given no access to your Gmail, your contacts, your files or anything else in your Google account.
• We keep an identifier from Google so we recognise you the next time. If an account already exists with the same confirmed email address, the two are joined rather than a second account being made.
• Using Google is entirely optional. An email address and a password work exactly the same, and an account made with Google can be given a password at any time through the 'forgot password' link.

Measuring how the site is used

We use established analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to count visits and improve the site — sign-ups, votes and the most-visited pages:

• These tools are never given your real name, your email address, your nickname or anything to do with your identity document.
• You can turn cookies off in your browser at any time. Nothing on the site stops working, and you can still take part and vote.
• We keep your language choice in a single cookie that carries no identifier, so the site opens in the language you picked the next time you visit.

How long we keep things

Account data and uploaded documents are kept while the account is active on the platform. Past seasons and their results are archived so the competition's history, its finalists and its stars stay on the record.
